Randy's Dredge Sluice Box Vibrator Mod -- 16 Jan 2018

Hey everyone... Just enduring the High Kolorado winter, waiting for Spring to get to dredging again. Had a crazy idea about upping the fine to super fine flood gold recovery rate on both my Keene 2 1/2 and 4 inch suction dredges. Always wondered IF a vibrator mechanism on the box would help the gold get thru the insane amounts of black sand and deeper into the Vortex type matting for more recovery and less loss. So, I built a 12-volt, VIBCO DC-20 setup that will fit both dredges. Seems to vibrate pretty good. Only pulls 3 Amps. Can't wait for April to try it out!!! Randy "C-17A" :)

Fine gold sluice box

Typical sluice box, converted to recover fine gold. The flare (slick plate) has been elevated to allow the heavy material to fall into the expanded metal riffle area, opposed to launching the material back into the slurry using stock riffles.

My Homemade 2.5" Gold Dredge/Highbanker in Thermal City goldmine N,C, Pt.1 bySouthern Adventures

I built this dredge / highbanker out of aluminum and a exstended sluice box. I used a center mounted 2" water pump. It worked great, but I am going to change out the toons and make some modifications to make it more efficient for 2013.

Homemade highbanker

This is a highbanker I built based on the design of youtuber kenklondike. I've only used it a couple of times and I need to make a few modifications to it to fix a couple of problems. I didn't get much gold but that is okay for now.

Arkansas River Panning -- Buena Vista, Colorado -- 5 Jan 13

Out sample panning for fine flood gold on a nice Saturday afternoon for about 1 1/2 hours...found a spring flowing into the river. Nice! It was unfrozen, as the flowing water was "warm", and I could dig material & pan. Found some nice color. Plan to come back soon to sluice for more...

Arkansas River -- Sluicing a Feeder Spring -- 7 Jan 13

Ha. It has been below zero at nights a lot lately, most everythign is frozen solid. I found this feeder spring 2 days earlier out sample panning around. I came back with my Le Trap sluice & deserdog 2 inch hand sucker tube to suck material between the rocks & sluice it in the spring's water flow... Did OK Found some nice fine flood gold!

My Home made 2.5'' Gold Dredge / Highbanker Combo rebuild pt2 by Southern Adventures Kelvin 31901

It worked real good as a dredge and a highbanker. I wanted a all in one machine so I mounted the water pump in the top center (It was very stable and worked great). I beleave I can make it work a lot better.I built this dredge by just looking at pitchers, and since I have used it I have a lot of new ideas to improve efficiency, and make it more user friendly. These designs I am working on can be used on any dredge, highbanker, or creek sluice.

Working bedrock in a wash with a gas powered vacuum in the Imperial county desert

Down on the Cargo claim working in a small arroyo. We dug down about 12 inches through rock and gravel to get to bedrock. I am using a gas powered vacuum (vac pac) to remove the material from the bedrock. We classifed down to #4 and ran about 8 buckets through the drywasher. We got some really nice color for the small amount of material we ran, but it was a lot of work! I guess if it was easy, gold wouldnt be $1750 an ounce! If you are interested in equipment like this, check out my website for prospecting supplies and detectors. www.groundbalanced.com
