We were prospecting a bit on the New 49er's gold mining claim K-24A near Independence Creek searching for gold. We started to find a bit in bedrock cracks and crevices along the Klamath River in California.

On the north ridge of French creek near the North end of the forestry road north of Lillooet on the west ridge of the Fraser river. For the past seven years my prospecting friend and I have been exploring gold rich areas of British Columbia we have been gradually narrowing down our search areas and for the Summer of 2013 we are planning a more detailed search with our Garrett AT Gold metal detectors and the Garrett Pro Pointer, they work really well together and both are 100% waterproof, and the batteries last a long time. We were told that three others had come before us,...and COULD NOT find Gold. The Owners did not believe there was Gold here. When prospecting for gold black sands are a great indication of gold. Find the black sands find the gold! This is a whole lot better than doing random sampling! Find and mine the hot spots! I'm also assuming that it will not only find pots but can also be used to define larger areas where black sands deposit. This is not a Deepers Magnetometer. Don't know if they work or not? Probably work! This is a regular waterproof magnetometer that was modified. I was was told how it was modified but I'm clueless! He may as well been speaking Greek. These early finds stimulated the search for gold in other countries. The history of the Mpumalanga gold fields date back to ancient times, when unknown miners worked the quartz reefs for gold. Traces of their mining activities can still be seen all over the Northern Province and Zimbabwe. A series of minor gold deposits were founnd in the northern parts of southern Africa between 1840 and the early 1870's. The first gold rush in South Africa took place in February 1873 when payable gold was discovered by McLachlan, Parsons and Valentine on the farm Geelhoutboom. President Burgers visited the fields, named the digger's camp Mac Mac and declared the area the New Caledonia Gold Fields. One of the Mac Mac diggers, Alec 'wheelbarrow' Patterson, left the area to prospect further a field. Patterson found rich gold deposits in the Pilgrim's Creek. He kept his discovery secret, but soon afterwards another digger, William Trafford, also discovered alluvial gold in the creek. The news of this rich strike triggered the first major gold rush in South Africa. Pilgrim's Rest was declared a gold field on the 22nd of September 1873. The Gold Commissioner moved his office to Pilgrim's Rest and by the end of 1873, there were approximately 1500 diggers working 4000 claims in and around Pilgrim's Rest.
